Associate Professor Dr. Komsan Suriya

Professional Profile:

Dr. Suriya serves Chiang Mai University as director of Social Research Institute. He also runs telecommunications economics research center at the Faculty of Economics. He got a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for his doctoral study in Germany. He studied at ZEF in Bonn, Gottingen, and Kiel. He got Ph.D. from Faculty of Economic Sciences, the University of Goettingen in 2011.

His research projects sponsored by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission includes the preparation of ICT industry in Thailand for the impact of ASEAN Economic Community, the evaluation of impacts of mobile broadband, and the development of key performance indicators in the telecommunication industry. He also served as a consultant to Thai Airways International Public Co., Ltd. to assess the impact of low-cost airlines and suggest the competitive strategy for the company.

Center for Development Research (ZEF) in Bonn funded him to study the community-based tourism development in Thailand. OEAD Austria financially supported him to work on Artificial Neural Networks at the University of Innsbruck. The Thai government also funded him in several development initiatives such as souvenir development, handicraft tourism and logistics for SMEs.

In Thailand, he was one of the pioneers in tourism logistics, handicraft tourism, experimental economics and the application of artificial intelligence in economics. He was awarded the best researcher under 40 years old of Chiang Mai University in 2007.

He was an editor of several books such as Uncertainty Analysis in Econometrics with Applications, and Econometrics of Risk published by Springer Verlag in Heidelberg, Germany. Currently, he is the editor-in-chief of The Empirical Econometrics and Quantitative Economics Letters (EEQEL), a guest editor of International Journal of Intelligent Technologies and Applied Statistics (IJITAS) and a section editor of Business and Economic Horizons(BEH).

He has publicly distributed his research experience and the knowledge on quantitative techniques through e-learning materials on his website,www.tourismlogistics.com since 2008.

As of January 2015, he has published 62 academic works with 114 citations recognized by Google Scholar.

Abstract submission extended to 31 December 2017.

December 31, 2017 - 5,000 Thai baht for PhD students who pre-register (before December 31, 2017). After this date, their conference registration fee is 7,500 baht.

December 31, 2017 - 7,500 Thai baht pre-registration fee for academics (non-PhD students) who wish to present their papers and have their manuscript considered for inclusion in either the APSSR or AIJSS issues (After December 31, 2017 the conference fee is 10,000 baht for these individuals.)

December 31, 2017 - Last day for the APIF2018 pre-registration discount. 

Notes:

  • There is a 3,000 baht conference audience fee. This includes all snacks, refreshments, and lunch buffets. Accommodations are extra. Please contact Ms. Montana for reservations. msmontanakmitl@gmail.com
  • Notification of paper acceptance for conference presentation and publication consideration is 5 days after the complete manuscript's electronic upload.
  • The top papers will be selected for publication in a special issue (March 2018) of the SJR/Scopus indexed Asia-Pacific Social Sciences Review (APSSR) from De La Salle University, Manila, the Philippines. (APSSR Archives).
  • Some papers will also  selected for publication in the Asian International Journal of Social Sciences (AIJSS) to be published at the end of January 2018.
  • All papers will be published online in the Asia-Pacific Innovations Forum Proceedings (APIF2018). DOIs will also be assigned to these papers.
